Cost Estimating on short notice
A construction company had an interesting request for quotation: the piping pre-fabrication and installation for a waste to energy installation in the UK. Scope also includes transport, scaffolding, coating, tracing and insulation. However, the estimators and work preparers were too busy to make an accurate calculation.
As such, they called Tresviri Cost Engineering Solutions in order to have expertise on estimates and calculations. In an online meeting we discussed the available data. Based on this data, Tresviri provided a lump sum price (EUR 4,000) for delivering the estimate within 4 days. The construction company agreed, and a confidentiality agreement was signed. After this the RFQ, site drawings, isometrics and all other specs were divulged.
Tresviri started to build the estimate based on labour time per activity and made a material take off (MTO). We built an estimate based on 15 isometrics, including location factors. The prices we used were the labour rates of our client and the material data from the Tresviri Database.
Finally, the construction company landed the 1.4 million Euro order, which was partially based on the detailed estimate that Tresviri provided.
